Membership in Ad Astra is limited to Kansas City area string students in grades 8-12.  We also accept college students.

Space and instrumentation is limited and students are encouraged to submit audition materials as early as possible.

Ad Astra is not a replacement for student participation in their respective school orchestra program.   Students must be enrolled in their school orchestra/strings program if these are offered.  Home school students, and students attending schools where strings/orchestra is not offered, are exempt from this requirement.  

Ad Astra members must attend all rehearsals scheduled.  However, we understand that all students are active and are involved in numerous activities.  School orchestra/music concerts always take precedence.  Members will receive the attendance policy before the season starts.

Student Tuition for the 2025/2026 season is $600 per student.

Tuition payment information will be provided to Ad Astra members before the start of the season.

Ad Astra offers scholarships and financial aid to accepted and qualified students/families.

Accepted students/families will receive financial aid/scholarship information.

The only fees not included in this tuition amount are concert tickets and Ad Astra swag.  All performances are ticketed at a very nominal cost.
